Pruning cherries

Green pruning is a supplement to winter pruning and is done during June and July. In relation to the stage of fruit development, young trees are cut during the formation of the growing shape of the crown and older trees in full yield. Pruning affects the development of the tree and reduces lushness, allows better lighting, and thus better color of the fruit

Removing excess young branches removes excess water and food, and light and air penetrate more easily into the inside of the tree canopy.

This pruning only comes to the fore if done at the right time. It is recommended that the young be pruned after the end of active vegetative growth, after the cherry harvest, in the second half of June and the beginning of July.

It is necessary to remove one part of the leaves due to the reduced moisture in the soil and the high air temperature during the summer. This pruning achieves better fruit quality.
