In order to plant a vine at least three months before planting, it is necessary to perform furrowing (deep tillage), because it is necessary for the soil to settle. Vine cuttings should not be planted in loose soil. Before planting the vines, the soil is immediately prepared with the help of a disc harrow, which is used for additional chopping and leveling of the soil.
On larger areas, it is necessary to carry out mechanized planting, in order to save time. In addition to the fact that mechanized digging of holes is performed in that way, the seed drill is automatically watered and fertilized with a solution of mineral fertilizers for seedlings. Only in that case, the root of the seedling must be shortened more, to 2.5-3 centimeters.
Before planting, it is desirable to soak the root of the cutting in a slurry prepared from water, beef dung and clay, in order to preserve moisture and enable better adhesion of the soil to the root. After placing the coils in the hole, the soil is piled up and compacted well. The cuttings should be watered in the coming days. In the following period, attention is focused on maintaining the land, both in order and in the row spacing.
It is not desirable to establish plantations on land where previously there were some perennial woody plants, such as, for example, an old vineyard, orchard, forest.
