Pear fruit seedlings – Red Williams

Pear fruit seedlings – Red Williams

Red Williams Pear, known as Crvena Vilijamovka, is a unique variation of the classic Williams pear, distinguished by its striking red color and slightly different characteristics.

Like its parent Williams, Red Williams shares similar tree traits. Its vigorous tree blooms mid-spring, with beautiful white blossoms adding aesthetic value to the orchard.

The fruit of Red Williams is similar in shape and size to the standard Williams, but stands out with its vibrant red skin that covers the entire surface. Although the flesh quality is somewhat lower compared to standard Williams, the distinctive appearance and mild flavor make it a special choice. The fruits ripen 2 to 3 days after standard Williams, extending the pear season.

Red Williams originated from a spontaneous bud mutation of the classic Williams pear and is often sought after in the market for its unique color and taste. However, it is not recommended for larger orchards due to the tendency of the fruit to lose its red color over time.

Regarding pollination and rootstocks, Red Williams requires the same conditions as the standard Williams pear. With proper care and attention, this variety offers distinctive fruits and satisfactory yields. Enjoy the unique experience of Red Williams, adding color and variety to your orchard.

Available on Rootstocks: Wild Pear, BA29 Quince (Provencal), and MA Quince.
