Pear fruit seedlings – Butira
Butira Pear ripens at the end of July and the beginning of August. The fruits are medium-sized to large, with a typical pear shape. The skin is smooth, greenish-yellow, speckled with small dots, and has a reddish tint on the sun-exposed side. The flesh is whitish, juicy, melting, sweet-tart, aromatic, and flavorful.
The Butira tree is moderately vigorous to vigorous, well-branched, and productive. It flowers early, especially when grafted onto quince. However, due to the early flowering, the buds and flowers are sensitive to late spring frosts. Additionally, Butira is not very compatible with quince, so it is recommended to graft it onto a mediator rootstock.
Butira has shown good results in various growing areas. When it comes to pollination, it is essential to have suitable pollinators to achieve optimal results. Pollinators such as Williams and Santa Maria ensure the richness and quality of Butira’s fruits.
Available on Rootstocks: Wild Pear, BA29 Quince (Provencal), and MA Quince.
